Welcome Citizens of North Port!
My name is Pete Emrich. I've lived and worked in the North Port for 27 year. I worked for the City for nearly 20 years. I am a family man, married to Elaine Allen-Emrich, a local reporter for 20 years. We have two adult children, who grew up and attended North Port schools. We are proud grandparents of two wonderful grandchildren who will also attend North Port schools. As a result of living and working in the City of North Port, I understand the needs of our community. Many are quality of life issues including no lighting at school bus stops, not enough activities for seniors and families, no real plan for Warm Mineral Springs, a 50-meter/community pool, affordable housing, stable jobs with decent income opportunities and a full-scale hospital in North Port.
I comprehend the complexities of the City's budget and need for accountability to taxpayers.
I have volunteered with many charitable North Port organizations. One community-wide issue I helped with was lobbying for a high school in North Port when children were being forced to attend Venice High School. As a proud veteran, I helped organize AMVETS POST 312. I volunteered with the Kiwanis to serve our local children and helped at canned food drives. I still enjoy volunteering to help with our local citizen's needs.
Once elected, I promise to you:
I will be your voice.
I will research every document and information provided to make informed decisions before every vote relating to our City.
I will work respectfully with other seated commissioners and leaders from other entities to ensure North Port taxpayer's interests are protected.
I will work to find a solution to safeguard the City's economy and housing market through unexplored avenues.
I promise to listen, reach out, interact, communicate and use common sense.
I will put the needs of the people on top of the political agenda.
