As a life long resident of Johnson County, Mike knows the area and issues for this county well. A West High and Kirkwood Community College graduate, Hull is a longtime army veteran and was deployed to Iraq for Operation Desert Storm. He lives in Iowa City and flew helicopters for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for 11 years. Currently, he flies an emergency medical services helicopter for Air Evac Lifeteam operating out of Fort Madison.
"My priorities are to increase awareness for our veterans, care for our seniors, mental health care, stop discrimination in all forms and proper care of our pets, also emphasizing that he wants to stop property taxes from rising, ensure that small towns, rural residents and businesses are represented, and advocate for term limits."
Hull has been a member of the Iowa City American Legion for 21 years, according to the release, and has served as commander and vice commander. He has also been on the American Legion Honor Guard for 12 years and is a member of the Johnson County Military Affairs Association, where he has been treasurer and president.
He is competing for three seats open in the June 7 Democratic primary.
