Office: Reno City Council At Large
I am running for Reno City Council at Large because I truly believe in the strength of local communities. I want to help build a bright future for Reno and the surrounding areas, and I want to make a difference in the lives of my neighbors.
Specifically, I am committed to:
1. Economic Stability & Growth
2. Neighborhood Empowerment, Personal Responsibility & Public Safety
3. Government Relations & Communication
I'm a dad and downtown Reno small business owner, in that order. I want to be your next Reno City Councilman At Large. I’m a 42-year-old single father to Alex, 15, and Catie, 11, and I own the Java Jungle coffee house and Jungle Vino on First Street.
A 1993 graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno, with a BA in Social Work, I also served as the Senator of the College of Human and Community Services. After college I went to work for Washoe County Department of Social Services. There I sat on the board of the Child Abuse and Neglect Task Force, the SARB Board for the Washoe County School District and the Advisory Board for the Kids Corner outreach program.
In June, ’01, I bought Java Jungle and in 2004 opened Jungle Vino. I am a past president of the River Walk Merchants Association, and I’ve served as marketing and Wine Walk chairs. I am on the Membership Committee of the Regional Alliance for Downtown (formerly the Downtown Improvement Association – DIA), and I’ve served on the Board of the YMCA.
As Reno's At Large Councilman, I'd like to work closely with the outstanding people and organizations already doing great things, and help make a difference for our community.
