Mayor Shea’s rich history overseeing Irvine’s community as a Council Member and Mayor awarded her many well-deserved awards and accolades.
Named one of Orange County’s “Leaders of the Year” by the California Women’s Leadership Association and featured as one of the “Most Influential Women in Orange County” by the Orange County Metro Magazine. In 2008, she was recognized by Assemblyman Chuck DeVore to be the Woman of the Year for the 70th Assembly District.
Mayor Shea:
-Brought forward a proposal in 2016 to make Irvine one of the first cities in the USA to use only organic pest abatement practices in the City’s parks, green belts, and open spaces. Mayor Shea’s pest abatement policy has been adopted by over 160 communities across the country.
-Brought forward a proposal to reinstitute the Transportation Commission to ensure Irvine is addressing traffic concerns of residents. Proposed creating more bridges in Irvine to create a safer environment for walkability and decongest intersections.
-Supports the creation of a Veterans Cemetery in Irvine and is supported by multiple Veteran organizations. Created a Veteran’s task force that created a policy to provide affordable Veteran housing. She appointed Veterans to serve on the Irvine Mayor’s Advisory Committee to meet Veterans needs in Irvine.
-Strong supporter of local law enforcement, Irvine has been ranked as AMERICA’S SAFEST CITY for 14 consecutive years among cities its size.
-In 2019, OC Register named Irvine as the best Orange County City to live in. Irvine is recognized as top 10 in the USA for its park system, ranked #1 city in the USA for good fiscal health and one of the best cities in America to raise a family.
