Mike Molina is currently serving his seventh term on the Maui County Council and represents the Makawao-Haiku-Paia disctrict. He has authored major housing and environmental legislations such as the Affordable Housing Fund, the First Time Homebuyers Fund, the Outdoor Lighting and the Plastic Bag Reduction Laws. Along with his work on the Council, Mike is a substitute teacher and currently serves as an officer of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VRW) and the Maui Evangelical Church.
Mike is a 1978 graduate of Maui High School and the University of Hawaii at Hilo with degrees in Sociology and Education. Mike is a military veteran who served in the United States Air Force and Hawaii Air National Guard. Before being elected to the Maui County Council, Mike was a teacher for the State of Hawaii Department of Education from 1987 to 2000.
Mike is married to Maui High School classmate and his wife of 30 years, Cielo Batan Molina. Mike and Cielo has three children: Ian, Aimee, and Malia; and five grandchildren: Emily, Drew, Taylor, Avery and Sophia.
