My name is Erica Newby. I was born here in Christian County and have spent the vast majority of my life here. I am a class of 1994 graduate of Christian County High School. I furthered my education at Eastern Kentucky University, where I fell in love with the city life of Lexington and lived there until 2000. When I started my family, I knew that I wanted to get back to my roots and raise my children in Christian County around my family. I have a large family here and they are a great support system. My father, Donnie Campbell, is a retired banker and my mother, Vicci Cornelius Clodfelter, is a retired sales manager. I have been married to my husband, Matt Newby, for 15 years and combined we have 4 children.
I am running on the Republican ballot for the office of County Clerk. I have been a registered Republican since the age of 18. I feel very strongly about election integrity and will strive to ensure transparent and trusted elections.
I previously worked in the clerk's office for 7 1/2 years. During this time, I developed a wealth of knowledge and hands on experience with policies and procedures. I worked in multiple departments throughout the clerk's office including Liens, Vehicle Renewals, Title Transfers, State Notary, Passports, Marriage License and Elections. Through this experience, I have seen what changes need to be made to make visiting the clerk's office a more pleasant experience. I will use my knowledge and understanding of the policies and procedures to serve the public efficiently by enhancing current practices and establishing new and innovative practices to improve the customer experience. As your County Clerk, I will be very hands on and present to better assist with the day-to-day operations of the office and to serve the residents of Christian County.
I feel that the clerk's office has been stagnant in progression over the past and I have a lot of new and exciting ideas that will not only benefit the residents of Christian County but the employees of the Courthouse as well.
