A career in Kenner law enforcement that spans over forty years, Mike Sigur knows the Kenner Police Department inside and out. He began as a jailer in 1973, worked undercover in the Narcotics Division, as a uniform officer in the Patrol Division, and as a detective in General Assignments.
In 1990, when Nick Congemi was elected Chief of Police, he appointed Mike Sigur as his Administrative Assistant. As such, Sigur took command of the Record Room, Payroll, Human Resources, Building Maintenance, Vehicle Maintenance, Evidence Room, Fiscal Affairs, Communications and I.T. Sigur also served as Administrative Assistant under Chief Steve Caraway.
Mike Sigur is credited with bringing the technical operations of the Kenner Police Department into the 21st Century. Under Sigur’s command, the Department went from having only one computer to being completely computerized, including computers in every patrol car. And his biggest accomplishment was successfully overseeing the design and construction of the new Kenner Police Complex.
As a two-term City Councilman, one year as Acting Mayor, and over 40 years in Kenner law enforcement, Mike Sigur is ready and very much capable of leading the Kenner Police Department as its Chief.
