Civil Rights lawyer and Hyde Park resident, Gretchen Van Ness, has announced her candidacy for Massachusetts State Representative, representing the 14th Suffolk District in Hyde Park, Roslindale, and West Roxbury.
Van Ness is known for her work combating race, gender, disability, and sexual orientation discrimination. She has spent much of her career fighting to protect and preserve the rights and liberties of all Massachusetts residents, and as a state Representative, Van Ness will use her experience, knowledge, and passion to represent the people of the 14th Suffolk District in the State House.
Van Ness served as president of the Women’s Bar Association of Massachusetts, was named a Best of Boston Attorney by Boston Magazine, and has been honored as a Massachusetts Super Lawyer. She is a graduate of Boston College Law School, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Boston College Law Review. Van Ness has lectured widely and taught at both the Suffolk University Law School and the Harvard Extension School.
Van Ness is a fierce advocate and will be a strong representative for the constituents of the 14th Suffolk District. As a member of the House of Representatives, Van Ness will focus on affordable housing, education, mass transit, criminal justice reform, and health care. She will be an effective and progressive leader for the 14th Suffolk District and for all the people of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
