I am a Detroit native and mother of two children, Nolan(20) and Lauren (14). I attended Priest Elementary, Ruddiman Middle and graduate of Cass Technical High School, Class of 1986. I attended Bradley University before transferring to Davenport University where I earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BA).
For many years, I have been an active advocate for students, parents and the community while interacting with DPSCD, and believe I can increase my impact as a School Board member. These are critical times for public education in the city of Detroit because of low student achievement, enrollment, administration and teacher morale, staffing shortages, deteriorating school buildings and athletic facilities.
We must work together to deliver practical solutions that highlight our strengths, and strategically address our challenges to ensure equitable access to all available educational opportunities for all Detroit residents. I have a proven record of successfully confronting tough issues and working passionately to provide funding and resource opportunities for students in several schools already, and now I would like to extend my work by providing these successes to the entire district.
