About Judge Sandra Ray
Judge Sandra Alice Ray was born two minutes after her twin brother in Charleston, SC. Five weeks later, after their father finished his residency, her family moved to Warsaw, North Carolina.
Judge Ray grew up in Warsaw, NC and Wrightsville Beach,NC.
Judge Ray attended St Mary’s College in Raleigh, NC where she received her high school diploma in 1982 and and her Associates Art degree in 1984.
She then moved across the street and attended NCSU and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1987.
Judge Ray received her paralegal degree from Meredith College and in 1991 Judge Ray graduated from Campbell Law School and began practicing in the District Attorney’s office for the 5th Judicial District in Wilmington, NC.
In 1996 Judge Ray went into private practice and joined the law firm of Jackson Rivenbark and Slaughter in Wilmington, NC where she practiced in areas of civil and criminal law.
In 2002 , Judge Ray opened her own law firm and continued to concentrate in areas of criminal and civil law.
Judge Ray was also able to settle a case for over one million dollars for one of her civil clients.
Judge Ray was elected to the District Court Bench in 2004 where she continues to serve the people of the 5th Judicial District and the State of North Carolina.
Judge Ray is one of two judges who preside over the juvenile cases in Pender County.
