Assad Mujtaba
Challenger Assad Mujtaba is running for Candidate for Clifton City Council in Clifton, New Jersey. Election day is November 3, 2026.
Assad Mujtaba was born and raised in Queens, New York, to first-generation American-Pakistani parents who instilled in him a lifelong commitment to service, civic responsibility, and community leadership. Growing up in a diverse and vibrant neighborhood shaped his belief that strong cities thrive when people of different backgrounds are heard, respected, and brought together around practical solutions.
Assad comes from a family deeply rooted in public service. His father, a former U.S. Army ROTC member, has extensive experience in U.S. and Pakistan foreign policy and has served as a Special Envoy on Foreign Policy and as Chairman of the Pakistan Policy Institute, USA. His mother, a dedicated community pharmacist in Corona, New York, also served as Director of Interfaith at Canaan Baptist Church, where she worked across faiths and cultures to strengthen community ties.
Locally, Assad is known for his hands-on commitment to Clifton. He has operated a walk-in clinic directly across from Clifton City Hall, working daily with residents, families, and small businesses. During the COVID surge, the clinic became a critical access point for care, serving hundreds of patients weekly while supporting the local workforce and economy during an unprecedented time.
Beyond community service, Assad has held leadership roles in education, including serving as Director of Education at Hunter Business School. His work as faculty across multiple institutions and as a visiting accreditation team member for the Middle States Association reflects a strong focus on accountability, standards, and results-driven leadership.
In the 2024 General Election, Assad earned broad support across all five wards of Clifton, performing competitively in nearly every district and leading his party’s ticket in many high-turnout areas. The results showed clear growth compared to prior election cycles and demonstrated his ability to connect with voters beyond party lines—earning trust from Republicans, independents, and crossover voters alike.
Now seeking a seat on the Clifton City Council, Assad Mujtaba brings a grounded, community-first approach shaped by real experience, deep local ties, and proven voter support. His focus is on responsible governance, smart spending, and a city government that listens, collaborates, and delivers results for every Clifton resident.
