Jean Chrisman for Ontario County Clerk
As for a little background about myself, I offer the voters more than 25 years of advancing experience in local government working for the Town of Canandaigua. I also held the position of Town Zoning Officer for the first 16 years of my public service and have now served as Town Clerk for the last 9+ years. These positions allowed me to work with town residents by assisting them with the permitting process, obtaining licenses and ensuring a transparent and seamless government experience. Both offices required the handling of confidential information, excellent oral and written communication, outstanding customer service, leadership and teamwork.
About My Family
Raised in Marion in Wayne County, I moved to the Canandaigua community in 1993 with my beloved best friend and husband, Jerry. We have been married for 29 years and have a wonderful daughter, Heather. The other endearing member of our family is Olivia, a 9-yr. old border collie-shepherd mix who brings us all such joy and companionship! My husband and I have competed in several half marathons and 5K races and we enjoy being outdoors in our beautiful Finger Lakes region, as well as running, hiking, bicycling, kayaking, boating and exploring our United States.
I am President of the Ontario County Tax Collectors Association and the Treasurer of the Ontario County Town Clerks Association. I earned my Registered Municipal Clerk (RMC) certification from the NYS Town Clerks Association in 2017. Since 1975, I have also proudly retained my membership in good standing with the American Legion Post 1430 (Marion NY). I firmly believe in continuing education and belonging to local, state and national organizations to learn and support all aspects of the office.
