EXPERIENCED
Lisa Dell is the Onondaga County Clerk and is running for her 3rd term. She was originally born in Rochester, New York and moved to Syracuse in 1988 to become a police officer. After serving over 20 years with the Baldwinsville Police Department, Lisa continued her public service as the Lysander Town Clerk for 6 years and then currently as Onondaga County Clerk for 7+ years. She began her first term as County Clerk in 2016 and re-elected in 2019.
Lisa earned her Criminal Justice - Police Science Degree at Monroe Community College and her police certification from the Central New York State Police Academy at Onondaga Community College. She has gone on to receive certifications as a Registered Municipal Clerk from the NYS Town Clerk's Association as well as a Certified Municipal Clerk from the Cornell University Municipal Clerks Institute.
Lisa is active in her community as a member of the Onondaga County Republican Committee and past board member of the Onondaga County Industrial Development Agency and the Syracuse- Onondaga County Planning Agency. She is a current member of both the NYS County Clerks Association and NYS Town Clerks Association.
Lisa oversees 30 employees in the Clerk's office working in the Land Records, Business, Passport, Recording, Judgment, Civil, Criminal, Accounting and Scanning Departments.
INNOVATIVE
In 2017, in just over her first year in office, Lisa had transformed the County Clerk's Office into the 21st century utilizing cutting edge technology by making public information and documents available online for the first time ever in the history of the office. Additionally, customers now have the option to electronically record (e-record) land records such as deeds and mortgages. These efforts were recognized by the Syracuse Press Club in 2019 when the County Clerk's office was extremely honored to receive the 2019 Syracuse Press Club Professional Recognition Award - Philip A. Hofmann President's Award Best News Source.
In 2022, under Lisa's leadership, a property fraud prevention check program was added to the Clerk's office to protect our citizens from the ever growing threat of property fraud.
FISCALLY CONSERVATIVE
In 2019 in the State of the County Address, County Executive Ryan McMahon applauded Lisa Dell's leadership for running an office projected to generate more than $1 million more than expenses. Since this time, Lisa has continued to decrease operating costs while expanding services to the benefit of our citizens and tax payers.
Lisa is passionate about providing the best customer service possible to the citizens of our community. She is always responsive, answering her work emails at all hours of the day and night, and encourages people to call her directly at the office or on her cell and to visit her in her office. She views herself as an employee of the People and welcomes any ideas, suggestions, comments, concerns or complaints so she can continually strive to improve as County Clerk and the office she oversees.
