Michael was born and raised in Cornwall. After law school, Michael worked as a prosecutor in the Orange County District Attorney's Office where he met his wife, Melissa. After serving as a prosecutor for many years, Michael went into private practice as a criminal defense attorney, ultimately opening his own criminal defense law practice at 318 Main Street in Cornwall.
Michael has strong roots in the community, where his father, Tony Ferraro served as Deputy mayor for the Village Board for many years, and his mother, Kathy Ferraro was instrumental in creating RiverFest. Following in his parents’ footsteps, Michael has become ingrained in the community. He has served on the Village Ethics Board and the Town Police Reform & Reinvention Panel. Michael has also dedicated his time to our community's youth by serving as a coach for the Cornwall Youth Soccer League, Cornwall Youth Basketball league and Cornwall Little League. Michael has continued his father's tradition of working with the Cornwall Little League Softball Program since 2013. He now serves as Softball director and Vice President.

The Town of Cornwall Justice Court is part of the Unified Court System. The Court arraigns felonies, handles and tries misdemeanors, traffic infractions and other violations.
As an attorney for 23 years, Michael has extensive experience working in the Unified Court System. He has served on both sides of the law as a prosecutor and defense attorney, handling felonies, misdemeanors, traffic infractions and other violations. He is the only candidate who demonstrates a complete and thorough understanding of how the criminal justice system works. Michael is fair and impartial, while ensuring the protection of the community and can meet the standard of justice Cornwall residents expect and deserve.
