I am proud to be a native South Carolinian and a product of our South Carolina public school system. After graduating from Ridge View High School in Columbia, I attended Wofford College in Spartanburg where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Government with a minor in Philosophy. After studying abroad in Germany, I returned home and began a career in real estate. I currently work for Charlotte-based developer, Northwood Ravin, as Senior Director of Operations & Technology. I am also a licensed Realtor with Carolina Homes Connection in Lake Wylie, where I assist buyers and sellers across the Carolinas. I serve on the Board of Directors for the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association as well as the Rental Housing Alliance. In addition to these, I serve as President of the Lake Forest Community Owner's Association and am active member of Steele Creek Presbyterian Church at Pleasant Hill.
I reside in the Lake Wylie area with my incredible wife, Ashley, my 5-year old son (Grady) and 2-year old daughter (Hadley).
My mother is a retired SC public school teacher of over 35 years. My wife is a public school teacher. Education has long been a topic of conversation around the dinner table. There's no question that now is a pivotal time in Clover School District. The continuing population growth has created challenges not seen before in the history of the district. Collaboration through communication. For me, that's what it's all about. Conversation is where it all begins. If we're discussing it, we're able to resolve it, whatever the proverbial "it" is. I want to re-establish an actionable connection between the board and the administrators, faculty, kids, and community. If elected I will create a more robust ongoing communication with all. I don't believe in a Board making decisions from 30,000 feet, I want decisions made from a ground level. Because that's when you can effect change.
I believe it's time we focus on getting rid of the unnecessary political and social ideology in our schools. We need to let teachers handle the math and reading, and let parents teach their kids values.
I am firmly against critical race theory and gender theory. I do not support masking our kids. I do not support boys competing in girls sports. I stand firm for parental rights. I've observed and learned from mistakes made in school districts around the country. I've seen how quickly a great school district can take a wrong turn. I can assure you that, if elected, I will create an easier way for parent and teacher voices to be heard without fear of backlash.
