I was raised in east Texas in the humble home of two working-class parents.

I received a public education which inspired my vocation for public service and inspired my love of learning. I continued my education at Texas Christian University and the University of Massachusetts School of Law.

Today, I work for the largest local non-profit HIV/AIDS service organization in North Texas which offers medical care, case management, prevention services, substance abuse, and mental health services for those living with or at risk of contracting HIV/AIDS.

For the past decade, I have been advocating for the rights of the most vulnerable. I have been a vocal proponent of marriage equality and reproductive rights, and I have fought to eliminate the racial and economic injustices so rampant in our world. As a lifelong Christian, my faith has influenced the way I understand immigration reform and refugees.

As a democrat, I find that civil liberties and justice for all people are the core tenants of our party and these values are the cornerstone of my work in public service.

I live in Arlington with my husband, Tim, who is a Christian minister. We have two rescue dogs, Dolce and Makea.
