I am a lifelong educator because I love children. Over 40 years in education, as a Parent, Teacher, Coach, Athletic Director, Assistant Principal and Principal, I have direct experience with the issues that students and staff face on a day to day basis in schools. I have worked in school districts of all sizes and in school districts with multiple high schools as well as one high school. If elected to the Board, I will strive to bring that experience to the Board as we support the Superintendent in addressing the needs of DSISD.
During my career as an educator, I have served in many positions and had a number of accomplishments. I have worked in several school districts, with the largest district having over 39,000 students in grades K-12. When selected as Athletic Director of Clear Creek ISD, I was among the first females to lead an athletic department for a multi-school Independent School District in Texas.
As Principal of Dripping Springs High School, I oversaw and facilitated the transition / switch of campuses for the High School and the Middle School in 2010-11, so am aware of and have experience with growing schools, construction and the processes that go into such actions. Also, while I was principal, the high school earned an Exemplary Rating from TEA, and the school was included in several national lists of top high schools in the nation such as those compiled by Newsweek magazine and the Washington Post. At the time of my retirement, DSHS was ranked among the top 1% of high schools in the nation.
