In 1994, Marty Jo Taylor graduated magna cum laude from Grambling State University with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science. In 1997, Ms. Taylor received her Juris Doctor from Texas Southern University. While attending Texas Southern University, she was a member and served as President of the Christian Legal Society. She also participated in a mentorship program.

After completing law school, Ms. Taylor worked for Monitronics International, Inc., as the Administrator of Consumer and Legal Affairs and in 2003 launched a solo legal practice. In 2004, Ms. Taylor received her Mediation Training Certificate. Ms. Taylor’s practices family and criminal law. She is completing her 19th year as an attorney at law.

Ms. Taylor has served as a Special Commissioner for various Dallas County Courts at Law.

Ms. Taylor currently serves in the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program and as a Precinct Chair for the Dallas County Democratic Party. She is a member of the State Bar College. She has also volunteered as a speaker for Law Week and has served as a Volunteer Deputy Registrar.

She enjoys working with children and previously served as Director over the Children’s Ministry at Gospel Tabernacle Church as well as Youth Director at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church. She is a member of International F.& A.M. Masons and Order of the Eastern Stars and works with the Youth Department.

Ms. Taylor serves on the Legislative Committee of the Innocence Project of Texas and the Jury Services Committee of the State Bar of Texas.

Ms. Taylor is a member of Disciple Central Community Church in Desoto, TX, in which she serves as a Greeter.

Ms. Taylor’ has one child, Keith, that inspires her each day.
