I serve as the current Plano City Council Member for Place 3. I chair the Emergency Preparedness Planning Council of the North Central Texas Council of Governments, a delegate to the Regional Transportation Council, the Dallas Regional Mobility Coalition, the Texas Municipal League (TML) Resolutions Committee, and the National League of Cities Finance, Administration and Intergovernmental Relations Committee, the Large Cities Committee and the Military Communities Committee.
I am the Region 13 President of the TML, and Chairman of Friends of Consumer Freedom, a nationwide financial literacy education nonprofit. I am a founder of the Collin County Veterans Coalition, advisor on the Collin County Homeless Coalition, board member of the Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance and a member of the Texas Health Resources Leadership Council.
To devote and donate more volunteer time to the citizens of Plano, I retired from Cornerstone Credit Union League where I served as Vice President for Research and Economics. While at the League I led all primary and secondary investigations on economic issues affecting financial institutions and consumers. I advocated on behalf of consumers and community financial institutions, especially during the Great Recession of 2008-2009.
I started my community service at the age of 13 when I joined the Civil Air Patrol, a U.S. Air Force Auxiliary that performs three congressionally assigned key missions: emergency search and rescue, disaster relief operations and aerospace education. I joined the U.S. Air Force ROTC program in college but was transferred to the Army and the Military Assistance Command Vietnam and the U.S. Army 1st Aviation Brigade, and served as a non-commissioned officer managing a company of forward air controllers in Vietnam. I was twice decorated with the Army Commendation Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. In 2017 I was honored with the Congressional Veterans Commendation by U.S. Congressman Sam Johnson.
