I, Curtis Linton, am running for Salt Lake School District Board 3. I will serve the Avenues, Capitol Hill, Marmalade & Federal Heights students and families who attend SLCSD schools. I will serve these students with the same focus of my 20+ years in national education reform: achieving true equity for all diverse students. Having worked with thousands of educators from all 50 states, I have the experience and knowledge needed to serve the Salt Lake School District as it enters into a phase of retraction and challenge. I know how schools operate. And I know what it looks like when a school provides an excellent educational experience for students, especially students of color and from diverse backgrounds. I have published multiple best-selling books, including Equity 101 and Courageous Conversations About Race, 1st Edition, and presented keynotes and workshops focused on educational equity--what it means, what it looks like, and how to accomplish it. Key to every decision I make will be whether or not the District engages EVERY student EVERY day with equal opportunity to learn, master, and thrive in the career/interest path of each individual student. I know this matters--I am a white father of two amazing black children who depend on our schools to provide them with the tools they need to not only succeed, but thrive in our ever-developing, ever-diversifying capitol city!
