Hyrum has been in Law enforcement for more than 16 years. He began his career in Carbon County in 2006 before coming to the Utah County Sheriff's Office in 2013. In that time he has worked in nearly every area of County Law Enforcement. He worked as a Corrections Deputy in every area from booking and housing to transportation. He has worked as a Judicial Deputy tasked with Court Security and Bailiff duties. Hyrum has worked in County Patrol, Contract City Patrol (Eagle Mountain) and Canyon Patrol doing proactive enforcement. Hyrum Has worked as a Community Supervision Deputy where he developed and implemented programs such as the Utah County Alternative Probation (UCAP) program.
Hyrum studied General Education at Utah State University and Business Administration at Western Governor's University. Hyrum has attended numerous state and national level trainings on behavioral change focused on substance abuse and mental health. Hyrum is trained in Motivational Interviewing and Criminogenic Risk Assessment. The Collaborative Community Supervision model that Hyrum developed has been recognized at both the state and national levels. Hyrum has developed and implemented proven and effective programs for two agencies and has a track record of finding creative and effective solutions.
Hyrum was a member of the Carbon County SWAT team from 2008 to 2013 and a member of the Utah County Metro SWAT team from 2015 to present. Hyrum was selected as a Sniper for both teams. Hyrum has competed at regional and national SWAT trainings and Competitions.
Hyrum has 6 beautiful children and an incredible wife who he describes as his best friend and soulmate. Hyrum lives in Payson Utah and truly believes that Utah County is one of the most beautiful and diverse places on Earth.
