Susanna Gibson grew up in Charlottesville, one of 3 children whose mother worked on George McGovern's campaign after graduating from college, was the first female class president of UNC's Law School, and was the President of the School Board for the Charlottesville City Public Schools. Susanna has lived in Virginia for almost her entire life, and loves our great Commonwealth. She is a wife, mother, sister, daughter, Nurse Practitioner, and a proud Virginian. She currently lives in the Short Pump area with her husband John David, my two children Jack and Lila, and her dog Scout.
Susanna has worked in Richmond as a Nurse Practitioner for over 12 years. Her experience includes outpatient Obesity Medicine, Internal Medicine, and working in the VCU Health Division of Geriatrics House Calls & Transitional Care Program. During her time with VCU Health House Calls, she provided primary care and intensive management of homebound and medically complex patients in their homes throughout Richmond and the surrounding areas. Working for this program was by far the most difficult and most rewarding opportunity she ever had the honor of experiencing. She became a fierce advocate for and defender of her patients, and spent hours fighting to get them heat/air, food, social resources, insurance, safety, and on. She attended their birthday parties as well as many of their funerals, both laughed and cried with her patients and their families countless times. Susanna plans on doing the exact same with each and every resident of the 57th District, as well as for every person in our Commonwealth. She vows to hold monthly town halls, personally answer your emails and phone calls, will continue to volunteer in our community, and to be accessible to ensure that she can represent you in the way that you deserve.
