Carmen Black is an educator from Yakima and a candidate for U.S. House in Washington’s 4th Congressional District. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in education. Through her work in the classroom, she has seen firsthand the challenges facing working families, from rising costs of living to under-resourced schools, and is running to bring practical, people-first leadership to Congress.

Carmen is committed to government accountability and believes elected officials should be held to the same standards as the people they serve, including no pay during government shutdowns if federal workers go unpaid, freezing congressional salaries until wages increase, and supporting term limits. She advocates for protecting personal freedom, defending equal rights for all people, and ensuring access to affordable, high-quality healthcare for every American.

Having grown up in Wyoming as an outdoorswoman, she is deeply committed to protecting public lands and natural resources for future generations. She supports responsible, forward-thinking policies that address today’s challenges while preparing for the future.
