My name is Monique Kaldy, Monterey attracted us to its authentic character, community, and history. However, in three short years, we watched significant change move our city in a different direction. We have left our center point.
Government restrictions worsen public safety and increase our cost of living. For example, conflict in City and State laws prevents owners from protecting homes from wildfires; increasing insurance premiums, and ultimately rent.
As an active member of our community, I talk daily with business owners, homeowners, and renters to better understand their needs. We need fact-based solutions to our city’s problems.
I am a native Californian with over twenty years of paralegal experience. I have been a renter, homeowner, and investor. I am committed to finding common ground to move Monterey forward, while respecting neighborhood voices.
My long-term goals include maintaining Monterey’s historical character while advancing infrastructure improvements, public safety, recreation, and housing. However, the City of Monterey must stay true to its character while building a stronger, more inclusive future.
Monterey residents deserve a leader who prioritizes our voices. I am that leader, and together we will help our city thrive.
