Jaspen Bishop

Challenger Jaspen Bishop is running as a Republican for Miami-Dade County Sheriff in Homestead, Florida. The election was held on November 5, 2024.

Hello, my name is Jaspen Bishop and I come from the humble beginnings of a lower middle-class family of a rural town in the great state of Maine. Where the value of hard work, honesty, and integrity became an integral part of my daily life. Those simple principles have remained the foundation blocks of the individual that I am today.
As I come into my twenty-seventh year in the workforce, I can say that I have grown tremendously both professionally and personally thanks to the many great people that I have had the pleasure to meet and work with. The beauty of working with people from all walks of life is that I have been able to establish a connection with just about anyone I meet, and I have met quite a few, from all over the globe. Each person imparted to me a little knowledge of how to be better at effective communication, dynamic problem solving and seeing situations from different cultural perspectives. As I worked up the ranks from a novice employee to management in some of the companies, those skills became an integral part in effective and efficient employee relations and teamwork.
Dependability, dedication, determination, and the ability to learn on the fly are just but a small fraction of the skill sets that I have acquired in the agricultural, industrial, retail, restaurant, and public service industries I have graced since my youth. Working in my local fire department at sixteen, it not only ignited my passion for working public service, but it also laid a template by which professionally I structure and conduct my daily life guiding me into my current career as a Deputy Sheriff with the Miami-Dade Police Department. Combined, these learned assets not only helped define and develop my being, but they have also given me a small advantage in the ability to be flexible in my critical thinking and managerial practices.
While working in various industries and connecting with individuals in them have been a catalyst for my development; no places have honed my character as such that it is than that of the civil organizations of which I have belonged to. Those organizations of the Boy Scouts of America, the Free and Accepted Masons, the Shriners and the Rotary club including the great people who are a part of them are the true embodiment of what it means to be a part of the community. From earning my Eagle Scout merit to Rotary’s leadership award, I have been able to diligently apply what I have learned in daily working life to that of bettering the community and its members both locally and internationally, thereby strengthening my commitment to the public service to people and their welfare.
So, what this means to you the reader, the voter, the supporter is that I have an unyielding passion and desire to help ALL regardless of any factor. What I can bring to the table of being a Sheriff is a set of skills that I have developed over my life’s experience. Those skills being the ability to efficiently communicate, lead and implement effective solutions for rising problems concerning the safety of the citizens, all the while maintaining my core values of integrity, respect, service and fairness.
