I just wanted to take a minute to thank all of you who are supporting me in my effort to become the next Sheriff of Lee County. Some of you know me well and others are new friends. I’d like to tell all of you a little more about my personal history and experience.

I was born and raised on the Northwest side of Chicago where my family still lives today. I am the youngest of four children. My family members all still reside in Chicago. My brother, unfortunately, passed away many years ago. My father was the Chief of Detectives for the Chicago Police Department while my mother worked in healthcare administration.

I have been with my wife for just shy of 22 years and we have two wonderful teenage daughters. The girls are incredible students and competitive athletes. My family has lived in Lee County for the last ten years and we have spent our entire time here in Gateway.

Immediately upon graduating high school I joined the United States Air Force/Illinois Air National Guard where I served in the 264th Combat Information Systems Squadron as a NCO. I later followed in my father’s footsteps and worked for the Chicago Police Department for 12 years where I was a decorated officer. I worked in one of the most crime ridden neighborhoods in the city as a Patrolman and then Tactical Officer. From there I went to work for the Superintendent in the Internal Affairs Division on the Serious Criminal Misconduct Team. I was then assigned to the Aviation Law Unit at O’Hare and served there in a pre and post 9/11 environment.

I later opened two franchised restaurants where I had tremendous success and an incredible experience. I sold the businesses when my family and I made the decision to move to Florida.

I was hired by the Lee County Sheriff’s office in 2006. I was initially assigned to Lehigh Acres in the East District. After just a few months I was assigned to a specialized investigative unit. While so assigned my partners and I discovered the existence of large number of individuals involved in organized criminal activity. I was moved into an organized crime working group led by 20th Judicial Circuit State Attorney, Stephen Russell. Upon completion of that assignment I was transferred to the Intelligence Unit where I continued to investigate organized criminal activity.

While in the Intelligence Unit I was assigned to work under the Federal Human Trafficking Task Force Department of Justice grant. In that assignment I partnered with the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a task force member and was granted a full top secret clearance. From there I went to work in the Economic Crimes Unit for the Lee County Sheriff. I am currently working for a Fortune 100 company investigating fraud.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration and an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. I am presently applying to post-graduate programs related to Legal Studies. I am a registered Republican and embrace conservative principals.
