Sally Petersen

Sally Petersen is running for City Council in Naples, Florida, an open seat. The election was held on February 3, 2026.

After earning an MBA at Harvard, I began a career in customer satisfaction consulting; developing business strategies based on the voice of customers. As a City Council Member in Ann Arbor MI, I relied on this expertise to listen to the voices of the residents, and enacted resident-focused policies.

During this time I:
Conducted the first Citizen Satisfaction Study for my ward.
Served on the Zoning Board of Appeals, balancing redevelopment with neighborhood integrity
Sponsored the city's first Ethics Policy, ensuring accountability and transparency
Chaired the Council Administration Committee leading the efforts to uphold Council protocols and conduct performance reviews of the City Administrator and the City Attorney

After my time on Council, I continued to advise the City Administrator on economic development policy, Chaired the Ann Arbor Commission on Disabilities Issues, and served as Treasurer of Michigan League of Conservation Voter Education Fund.

My Values are grounded in Public Service, I am the daughter of an Episcopal Priest and a Social Worker. My father was very much a role model for me; not only was he our church Rector, he was a community leader, holding board positions at the local hospital, the YMCA, and others. I have continued in that spirit throughout my adult life in Ann Arbor, MI. In addition to being a City Council Member, I served on several boards during the 27 years we lived there. Balancing work, raising a family, and public service is quite a juggle and I am grateful to have had my parents’ example to learn from. I will be a strong voice for the Residents of Naples.
