Challenger Deborah Fisher is running for Mayor in Grovetown, Georgia. The election was held on November 7, 2023.
Dr. Deborah Fisher is retired from the United States Army Medical Command with over 20 years of service to her country. Deborah is running for the office of Mayor of the City of Grovetown. She has lived in the City of Grovetown for over 25 years which is significantly longer than either of her mayoral challengers. Deborah has also worked with the city significantly longer than either of her mayoral challengers, first serving on a special planning committee established by the previous mayor, then serving on the Grovetown Planning and Zoning Commission for 4 years and serving 5 years on the city council culminating to 10 years of active service with the city, which is significantly more time and experience than either of her mayoral challengers working with the city.
Deborah has a solid proven background in public heath, workforce development, as a university health science professor, leadership and management, city planning and zoning, as city councilmember; voting to set millage rates for property taxes, to approve the city's budget, city expenditures, to pass ordinances and resolutions, voting to establish policies and procedures, hearing rezoning and annexation requests and voting on the same. As Grovetown Mayor, her goals include addressing the city’s growth as it relates to city services, city walkability with regards to much needed public sidewalks, transportation, ongoing traffic issues, streets, and safety.
