Hello, my name is Michael Navarro, and I'm running for the position of Liberty County Commission Chairman. The current Board of Commissioners passed the budget that raises Property Taxes by 35% in FY 2024, according to the Coastal Courier. The Retired Community are especially affected since they are on a fixed income. You can't have affordable housing and then RAISE my taxes.
The Middleclass is hurting with HIGH INFLATION
My strategy is that if we spend conservatively on our budget then families have the choice to spend their money how they see fit. It troubles me that a Board raises taxes after six years on a budget that has gone from $28 million to $58 million having a need to raise taxes during a bad economy.
Waiting 20 years for leadership with a conservative approach
Growing an economy through the middleclass is the best way for a community to thrive. Too many times the middleclass gets taken for granted and are left out of the conversation on how we can improve their lives. Right now, the middle class is struggling with high inflation and an unstable economy, and their taxes are going up in FY 24. I want to lower Property Taxes. Too many of friends have left the county throughout the years because of the same reason: High Property Taxes.
