Michael Sweatt is running for Select Board in North Yarmouth, Maine, an open seat. The election was held on June 9, 2026.

Michael Sweatt, husband, father of three, and grandfather of six, 18 months to 18 years old. Relocated from Portland to North Yarmouth six years ago for the close-knit and tranquil community, proximity to family, and access to great parks.

Retired chief executive, built a clinical diagnostics business for a private-equity-backed, UK, Life Sciences company. Diligenced and acquired four US entities and two in Europe. Under his leadership, LGC Clinical Diagnostics developed diagnostic kit components and subsequently won the “Best COVID-19 Responder” title at the OBN 2020 Awards, recognizing the company’s speed and impact in the fight against COVID-19.

Michael served as co-founder of the Maine chapter of Voice of the Faithful, an advocacy group of Catholics seeking justice for clergy sexual abuse victims and survivors. He was recognized for his advocacy work, in 2003, by Maine Coalition Against Sexual Assault, receiving their "Make a Difference" award. Michael also testified before the Maine legislature seeking removal of statutes of limitations for childhood sexual abuse.

After completing a year on the North Yarmouth Budget Committee, Michael is now seeking a position on the Select Board, to better utilize his background and skill set.

Michael is motivated to provide experienced leadership and achieve results, with a focus on the welfare of North Yarmouth residents.
