Marcia Mansaray
Challenger Marcia Mansaray is running as a Democratic for State Representative 85th District in Holland, Michigan. The election was held on November 5, 2024.
With a passion and courage that were stirred by the misdeeds and illegal actions of a majority of the members of my local county commission, I have been uniquely prepared by my front row seat to it. I've had a two-decade career in public health as an epidemiologist and Deputy Health Officer - a civil servant who could do her job well as a science-based professional. It didn't matter how I voted, because Public Health was a nonpartisan space. But in Ottawa County, Michigan in 2022 the local health department was used as a political football, at the risk of the people's health and to the detriment of county government. I uniquely understand the political vulnerabilities of the Open Meetings Act, the Public Health Code, and the Michigan County Boards of Commissioners Act. There is a specific job to be done. I have publicly demonstrated that I will use my voice, my influence, and my know-how to address these issues so that no other county in Michigan becomes nationally known for the kind of county not to be - "don't 'Ottawa' my (fill in blank with community's name)."
