Dr. Curressia McFarland Brown is a native of Meridian, MS who has resided in Greenwood/Leflore County, MS since 1996. Having retired after nearly three decades in higher education, she is an educational product of Rust College (Class of 1988), the University of Mississippi School of Law (Class of 1992) and the University of Mississippi School of Education (1993). Her decision to seek the District 24 Senate seat is motivated by a desire to serve and a commitment to citizens in Leflore, Tallahatchie and Panola Counties.
She has been the devoted wife of Troy D. Brown, Sr. for 34 years, and they are the proud parents of four: Troy D. Brown, Jr., Brandice Brown Williams (Anthony), Solomon K. Brown, and Kayla Brown.
Her current social, civic and religious engagement include the Greenwood-Itta Bena Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, the Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School District Community Engagement Committee, Providence Missionary Baptist Church, the General Missionary Baptist State Convention and the National Baptist Convention U.S.A., Inc.
She has been endorsed by the MSPBA (Mississippi Police Benevolent Association).
