Scott is devoted husband to his wife Angie, father to Nicole and Zach, and grandfather to Jordi and Hallie. Scott and his family have had Nebraska roots for nearly 45 years living in Malcolm and Lincoln.

Scott has been the Executive Director for the Nebraska Sportsmen’s Foundation for the past 8 years where he has made it his mission to educate, promote, and develop awareness for the rights of Nebraskans to trap, hunt, fish, and participate in shooting sports. As the Executive Director, Scott grew the Nebraska Sportsmen’s Foundation from its infancy into the leading voice in the State for enhancing fish and wildlife management and growth in outdoor sports.

In addition, Scott has been heavily involved the state’s Water management. In 2012 Scott was a technical study member of the LR314 - Interim study to examine all possible sources of revenue that could be used to establish a dedicated funding source for water management. Governor Heineman then appointed Scott to LB517 in 2012, the 34-member Water Funding task force representing Outdoor recreational users. Then in 2014, Governor Heineman appointed Scott to the New 27-member Natural Resource commission (NRC) that resulted from LB1098 legislation. Governor Ricketts reappointed Scott in 2016. Scott was chairman of the rules committee of the NRC, and has twice been a member of the grant scoring committee; he is currently the vice-chairman of the NRC.

Scott is an avid outdoorsman, hunter, and angler. In his free time, he enjoys traveling with his wife, photography, studying history, the Huskers, the Chicago Cubs, and politics.
