Fred Deutsch is a conservative Republican and retired chiropractor running to represent District 4 in the South Dakota House. The son of a Holocaust survivor, he learned early the value of faith, family, and freedom. After earning his chiropractic degree in St. Paul, he and his wife Kathleen settled in Watertown, where they raised four daughters, built a small business, and served their community for more than 40 years.
Fred’s background includes decades of civic involvement. He served on the Watertown School Board, chaired local community organizations, and volunteered with local ans state pro-life groups. His hands-on service shaped a reputation for listening first, acting fairly, and keeping government close to the people.
As a legislator, Fred has a strong record of conservative leadership—cutting taxes, defending life, protecting property rights, and improving infrastructure. He helped pass the state’s largest sales-tax cut, backed balanced budgets, fought eminent-domain abuse, strengthened school safety, and sponsored the Born-Alive Infant Protection Act.
His platform centers on practical, local solutions: lowering property taxes, expanding broadband, improving roads and rail, and keeping healthcare and education strong in small towns. He champions safe schools free from ideological agendas, career-focused education, and support for law enforcement.
