Jamie Diane Farough
Incumbent Jamie Diane Farough is running as a Republican for Wilson County School Board, Zone 7 in Wilson County, Tennessee. The election was held on March 5, 2024.
I was born in Wilson County and have lived the same 10 miles my entire life. Multiple generations of my family have left a legacy in our local history which contributes to my love for my hometown and my sense of need to give back. Before running for the school board and being elected in 2020, I attended meetings for years to have a good grasp on my position and the needs of the district.
I am the current zone 7 representative and the unanimously elected Board Chair. I represent 7 schools, three of which I attended growing up. My daughters have attended these same schools and one remains in our school system. I have completed multiple required and optional training while a member of the school board but have chosen to heavily focus on legislative and legal considerations. Subsequently, I am a level 2 school board member per the Tennessee State Board Association requirements.
Professionally, I have been in healthcare for 24 years and a Registered Nurse for 19 years. I currently enjoy working in complex case management for the special needs community and consulting on medical litigation cases. I have been and will continue to be, an advocate both professionally and in my community.
I believe in small government, fiscal responsibility, lawfulness, and parent's rights.
I understand firsthand the concerns of Wilson County Parents, as a mom who depends on Wilson County Schools.
I understand the needs of students whether going into the job market, college, or a trade, and the importance of Wilson County Schools offering varying paths to success.
I understand the impact of my votes on Wilson County taxpayers.
I understand the budgeting process and the significance of the school system being the largest budget in our county.
I understand the need to look at issues impacting employee satisfaction to offer the best opportunities to our students.
I understand the legal implications of my votes.
