Since I began my campaign, people have asked me why? My passion for public service began after high school. I was privileged to serve in the United States Marine Corps after graduating Loretto High School, and I have been involved in our wonderful community since I finished my service.
Previously, I worked as a firefighter for the Lawrenceburg Fire Department and a volunteer firefighter responding to medical and emergency calls for over 20 years. I currently work at the Lawrence County Emergency Management Agency as a Grants Management Specialist working to secure money for our agency. Since 2001, I have worked with various fire departments within Lawrence County and the surrounding counties to secure over $5 million for our fire departments.
I have also spent time as a volunteer coach for the Lawrence County High School Shooting Team and as a Chamber Ambassador for the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce. I currently serve on the Tennessee County Commissioners Association’s Veteran’s Affairs Committee and Chair of the Lawrence County Commission. I also serve on the Animal Welfare, Human Resource, Non-Profit, and Emergency Services committees. I was recently selected to serve as the Chairman of the Selective Service for our area.
Outside of my service to the community, I have been married to my amazing wife, Mechelle, for over 30 years. We have been blessed with two wonderful children, Brittany and Derek. Derek and my daughter-in-law, Kelbie, have our two beautiful grandchildren, Nixon and Lainie.
I am Magna Cum Laude graduate of Columbia Southern University with a B.S. in Fire Science and hold an M.B.A in Public Administration. I have also earned the Chief Fire Officer Designation through the Center of Public Safety Excellence, one of 1750 people worldwide to do so. I earned the Certified Public Administrator Designation through the UT County Technical Assistance Service and the Certified County Finance Officer Designation.
