Marie Lebron is a management executive, Austin ISD parent, and longtime public education and special education advocate running for Austin ISD Board of Trustees District 6.
For more than 15 years, Marie has worked alongside students, families, educators, and school staff in Austin ISD as a parent, volunteer, PTA leader, literacy tutor, special education advocate, committee and advisory member, and school-community organizer. She has spent years in Austin ISD schools, including extensive volunteer service in Title I schools and direct experience working in an AISD elementary school.
Her advocacy grew from seeing firsthand how district decisions affect the people who make public schools work every day, particularly students with disabilities and the educators and staff who support them.
Professionally, Marie brings more than 20 years of executive management, financial management, operations, and governance experience. She has managed complex organizations, budgets, personnel, and multi-site operations, giving her a practical understanding of how strong governance, accountability, and sound financial decisions affect an organization.
Marie is running because Austin ISD needs trustees who will listen to students, families, educators, and staff, ask hard questions, understand the details, and remain focused on students. Her priorities include strengthening special education, ensuring schools are fully staffed, supporting educators and staff, improving accountability and financial transparency, protecting educational opportunities for every student, and addressing inequities that impact staff and students.
