Ricky Armstrong
Ricky Armstrong is running for City Council Place 2 in Runaway Bay, Texas, an open seat. The election was held on November 5, 2024.
Raised in a nurturing family in the heart of Kansas, I was fortunate to grow up under the guidance of my grandfather, a proud veteran of the US Navy and a dedicated pastor. His service to our country and our community in Salina, where he founded what I believe to be one of the finest churches, deeply influenced my values. He taught me the importance of hard work, respect for our nation, and the duty to assist those in need.
Years later, I embarked on a new journey, leaving Kansas for Texas. Amidst the pandemic, my family and I found ourselves drawn to the charm of Runaway Bay. We purchased a home here, built strong friendships, and are now proud members of this close-knit community.
My professional background is rich with experience in working with non-profit organizations, spearheading fundraising initiatives, managing sponsorship opportunities, and coordinating with community volunteers. While I am a newcomer to public service, my past roles align closely with its demands. I have served on multiple boards and held the position of President for our community’s Homeowners Association. Inspired to effect change rather than merely discuss it, I listened attentively to residents’ needs, problems, and concerns. We collaborated to find solutions, revised by-laws, and organized local events to foster a sense of community.
Today, my passion for making a difference in Runaway Bay is stronger than ever. I aspire to serve on our City Council, bringing fresh perspectives and a focus on problem-solving, community outreach, and fostering strong community relations. Runaway Bay is a gem, and I am committed to preserving its charm while thoughtfully addressing future growth. I am eager to leverage my skills and experiences to serve our community and make Runaway Bay an even better place to live.
