Sam Berry
Challenger Sam Berry is running as a Republican for Mayor in Runaway Bay, Texas. The election was held on November 5, 2024.
My family and I relocated to Texas in 2008, and for the past three years, we have been proud residents of Runaway Bay. During this time, we have dedicated ourselves to serving our community, volunteering our time and expertise to address the city’s infrastructure challenges, including sewage and water leaks.
I have taken the initiative to create and manage proposals for potential funding to upgrade our outdated infrastructure. I assembled a team to locate the city’s manholes and developed a systematic approach to identify necessary repairs and associated costs for each one. I also compiled a comprehensive list of issues at our water treatment plant that must be addressed before project completion.
As a liaison for the engineering firm Freese and Nichols, I provided detailed information from the city to assist them in developing a 10-point plan and detailed proposal for various agencies, including the Army Corps of Engineers and federal agencies. One such agency was Congressman Dr. Ronny Jackson, who has allocated $1,750,000 in the current appropriations bill for our citizens.
Regarding my background, I possess extensive knowledge in commercial and infrastructure construction, including the installation of new sewer, fresh water, reclaimed water, and stormwater systems. I also have experience in residential construction. My skills and knowledge have been honed under the guidance of seasoned veterans in the engineering and building industry. Over time, I demonstrated my abilities to senior staff and was promoted to Senior Project Manager, overseeing multiple construction projects. I take immense pride in being the youngest individual to hold this position at the time.
I am deeply grateful for the leadership training I received during my service in the Marine Corps. I also want to express my gratitude to my parents for instilling in me the value of integrity, a cornerstone of leadership and teamwork. This principle, along with other leadership and management skills I have acquired over the years, has enabled me to achieve success for myself and those around me.
In conclusion, with my leadership and the collective efforts of the citizens of Runaway Bay, we can restore our city to its former glory, making it the finest place to live in Texas.
