Tamra Read Dickerson was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas. Tamra has worked in the Potter County Tax Office since 1992 as a senior in high school at the age of 17. She graduated in the top 5% of her class at Caprock High School in 1993. She then graduated from Amarillo College in 1997 with her Associates Degree all while working at the tax office.
As of today, Tamra has over 30 years' EXPERIENCE and KNOWLEDGE of the job as Tax Assessor-Collector. In 2013, she completed her Professional County Collector (PCC) education which is a requirement to be completed in the first year of taking office. This certification will allow her a smooth transition into the position of tax assessor-collector at no further expense to taxpayers. She has also been a property owner and taxpayer since 2005.
The County Tax Assessor-Collector is a constitutional officer mandated by the Texas Constitution, elected by and directly responsible to the people. From serving as a counter clerk to head bookkeeper to her current position as Chief Deputy, her EXPERIENCE speaks for itself. She is confident that she not only has the EXPERIENCE but the KNOWLEDGE, HONESTY, and COMMITMENT to show up and be there full-time to serve the taxpayers of Potter County in the most ETHICAL manner.
