Douglas Crockett

The candidate was born and raised in Wythe County, Virginia, and is a graduate of Emory & Henry College. He later earned degrees from seminary and law school, becoming both a United Methodist pastor and an attorney. For more than thirty years, he served churches across Virginia and worked in legal aid and private practice, representing individuals with limited resources. In 2023, he retired from pastoral ministry, and in 2025, he closed his law practice. Although his career required living in other parts of Virginia, his family roots remain in Wythe and Buchanan counties, and Southwest Virginia has always been home. He is running for office to bring experience in values-based service, law, and community advocacy to public service and to represent the Ninth Congressional District. He is a Democrat whose values align with the Democratic Party, and he believes progress requires listening and collaboration. He is committed to good-faith dialogue with Republicans and conservatives to address shared concerns, while firmly upholding the rights and dignity of all.
