Randolph County isn't just where she lives -- it's where she belongs. Born and raised in Randolph County, she's carried the good values of her community with her every step of the way. Her journey began at home, deeply rooted in family. Jaymie is the daughter of Janet England Godwin and the late K.D. "Joe" Godwin. For 23 years, she's been married to Matthew "Matt" Wilfong, a teacher in the Randolph County school system.
Having graduated from Elkins High School in 1988, she pursued her passion for knowledge at West Virginia University, earning a B.S. in Speech Pathology/Audiology, with honors, in 1992. Over the next three years, she studied law and graduated from the West Virginia University College of Law, earning her J.D. (law degree) in 1995. After studying for, and passing the bar exam, she began her legal career in 1995.
Jaymie's extensive career in law spans nearly three decades, beginning as an Associate at Cardot Law Office. In 2000, she established her own practice, The Law Office of Jaymie Godwin Wilfong. While an attorney at her independent practice and at Cardot Law Office, her work covered criminal defense, family law, and multiple aspects of civil litigation. For a period of time while she had her independent practice, she shifted from criminal defense and became Assistant Prosecuting Attorney of Upshur County, West Virginia, where she focused on the prosecution of domestic violence crimes.
On January 1, 2003, Jaymie became the Family Court Judge for Randolph, Tucker, and Grant Counties following a successful election. She served in that capacity until she was elected to become the first female Circuit Court Judge of Randolph County, where she served from January 2009 until December 2014.
Currently, as the principal attorney of Wilfong Law Office, PLLC, Jaymie remains steadfast in advocating for the rights of individuals and championing fairness within the legal system. Beyond her legal work over the years, she has enjoyed sharing her expertise and experiences by instructing many law-related courses at Fairmont State College/University and Davis & Elkins College.
Jaymie stands committed to returning to the bench, where she will again promote fairness, equality, and integrity within the judicial system. She maintains her previous commitment as a judge to always be firm, but fair.
