Sharron Pettiford

Sharron Pettiford is running for City Council District 8 in Denver, Colorado, an open seat. Election day is November 2, 2027.

Sharron Pettiford is a longtime labor leader, public service professional, and proud Northeast Park Hill neighbor running for Denver City Council District 8 in the April 2027 municipal election.

Originally from Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Sharron earned her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Northeastern State University. Her career spans social services, mental health, child welfare, and the court system, where she worked directly with individuals and families navigating life's challenges.

Her commitment to working families led her into organized labor, where she helped defeat Right to Work legislation in Missouri and advocated for collective bargaining rights, fair contracts, and improved working conditions for more than 30,000 Colorado state employees. She currently serves as President of the Colorado Coalition of Black Trade Unionists and on its International Executive Board.

Sharron fell in love with Denver, put down roots, and proudly calls District 8 home. Her experience as a caregiver for her mother has further strengthened her commitment to helping families navigate complex systems with dignity and compassion.

She's running to address neighborhood disinvestment, housing equity, public safety, environmental justice, and access to good-paying union jobs.

Her approach is grounded in listening, building meaningful partnerships, and delivering practical solutions that put people first.
