Metin Vargonen

Challenger Metin Vargonen is running for Georgia State House District 25 in Cumming, Georgia. Election day is November 3, 2026.

I am 38 years old and have lived in Georgia since 2012. I have a daughter and a son, aged 10 and 12 (4th and 7th grade), and a wife who is currently finishing up graduate school to become a librarian. I love science, I love books, and I love tinkering with new inventions. I was born in Michigan, grew up in California, went to college in Upstate New York, and moved to Georgia for my first job in the battery industry. After working as a battery engineer for many years, I returned to school at the University of North Georgia and earned an MBA. I currently work at GE Vernova as a Director of Product Management, leading the development of Battery Energy Storage Systems to store renewable energy and reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.

I will focus on three key issues: 1) Regulation of Artificial Intelligence. 2) Decriminalization of Women's Healthcare. 3) Improving affordability by restricting corporate home-ownership.

I have deep technical expertise in energy and technology, and will focus on an AI Bill of Protections, including the definition that AI is a tool - not a person, AI should help us - not take our jobs, and AI needs our permission to use our data.
