Challenger Michael W. Davidson is running for Mayor in Portales, New Mexico. The election was held on November 4, 2025.
I am running for Mayor of Portales because I believe our community can do better. I am asking for your support, your input, and your vote to bring honesty, accountability, and solutions back to City Hall.
My family’s connection to Portales runs deep. In 1898, my great-great-great-grandfather’s brother, Joshua Elliot Morrison, founded Portales, building the first home, opening the first business, and starting the Post Office. His son Seth became the first Postmaster, later served as a State Senator, helped establish our first two banks, and was instrumental in bringing the college here. While this history does not qualify me to be Mayor, it shows that my commitment to Portales is deeply personal and rooted in generations of service.
Portales is facing real challenges, from water security and infrastructure to sanitation, public spaces, and business growth. We cannot continue to treat symptoms while ignoring the root problems. My focus will be on delivering practical solutions, restoring pride in our city, and making Portales a place families, businesses, and visitors can be proud to call home.
