Daniel Glammeier is running for Dell Rapids School Board in Dell Rapids, South Dakota, an open seat. The election was held on April 9, 2024.
My primary desire to run for school board is that I have been incredibly impressed with the diversity in the Dell Rapids Schools curriculum. Having graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls, I did not have the opportunity to be exposed to the variety of unique course options that is available in Dell Rapids. With that said, I do believe there are some efforts to focus attention away from diversity of academics and focus in on subjects that drive only state test scores. As the parent of 3 children, each incredibly unique in their own way, I can attest that a strict focus only on testing, while well intended, does not serve to provide an inclusive education for all of our children, especially those with strengths outside the core academics, like art, music, theatre and technical education.
