Troy Skebo is an Independent candidate for Spotsylvania County Sheriff in the November 2027 General Election, bringing more than 30 years of public safety experience and a lifelong commitment to the community he calls home.

Born and raised in Spotsylvania County, Troy has dedicated nearly 27 years of service to the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office, advancing through the ranks and gaining experience at every operational level of the agency. His career includes service as a 911 Dispatcher, Deputy Sheriff, Senior Detective, Lieutenant of Criminal Investigations, Captain of Criminal Investigations, and ultimately in an executive leadership role as Major. This breadth of experience has given Troy a comprehensive understanding of emergency communications, patrol operations, complex criminal investigations, leadership, and organizational management.

Troy is a 2007 graduate of the Virginia Department of Forensic Science, further strengthening his expertise in evidence-based investigations and modern law enforcement practices.

Outside of government service, Troy is the owner of Ten8 Solutions, LLC, a security consulting and tactical sales company that supports public safety professionals and organizations. His professional background bridges both public and private sector perspectives, allowing him to approach safety challenges with innovation, accountability, and practical solutions.

Troy and his wife Becky, married for 25 years, are proud parents of two adult children and are deeply rooted in the Spotsylvania community. Together, they are active philanthropists and strong advocates for children and families. Troy currently serves as President of Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a safe, child-friendly environment for victims of abuse. Safe Harbor coordinates multidisciplinary teams to deliver forensic interviews, mental health services, and medical evaluations—reducing trauma and preventing re-victimization during investigation and prosecution.

Spotsylvania County is home to approximately 145,000 residents, with a diverse and growing population that is largely family-oriented. The county is predominantly residential, with a mix of suburban neighborhoods and rural communities, a median age in the late 30s, and a strong presence of working families, veterans, and public servants who value safety, transparency, and community trust.
