Elka Worner is a longtime Hermosa Beach resident and candidate for Hermosa Beach City Council in 2026. She grew up in Hermosa after moving from Germany at age seven, attended local schools, and went on to a career as an award-winning journalist, television news producer, public information professional, and journalism instructor.
Elka Worner currently serves on the Hermosa Beach Parks and Recreation Commission, founded HB SAFE, Hermosa’s first homeless outreach initiative, helped lead opposition to a proposed 50-foot development near the beach, and works in a downtown Hermosa Beach small business.
Her campaign focuses on public safety, homelessness, responsible development, fiscal responsibility, and preserving Hermosa Beach’s character while planning thoughtfully for the city’s future.
